DIY | Fringed Ankara Skirt

June 17, 2016

H&M Top | H&M Black Skirt | Asos Heels (Similar) | Cross body bag (Similar)

Trust me when I say we all have hidden talents, trust me again when I say we all have the ability to manoeuvre a DIY. I’m loving the fringe vibe and I put myself to work by adding Ankara to my black skirt and viola.

Here is how to make your own. You need half a yard Ankara fabric depending on the length of skirt you will be using, a pair of scissors, a needle and a thread.

1. Turn your skirt inside out and sow the Ankara at the bottom edge of the skirt. (I hand sewed but you can definitely use a machine if you have one).
2. After sowing, turn the skirt back.
3. Lay the skirt down and begin to cut the the fabric in a fringe like manner.
4. Finally hem the edges of each cut to prevent shedding.

DIY projects are fun and it allows you to do something with your own stamp on it ☺️, feel free to share some of your DIY’s and let me know what you think of this one xoxo.

Imani x Ripped Denim

May 20, 2016

Hello guys it’s Friday, or as many of us can relate FRIYAY!!!! hope y’all had an amazing week and looking forward to a relaxing yet fun weekend.

In celebration of the week being over, I decided to work with this classy but casual ripped denim look with my Imani neck piece by Christie Brown.

Tips on how to style Ripped Denim:

– For a super casual comfy look, you can pair your Denim with a basic round neck or V neck t-shirt, a pair of sneakers and a cross body bag.

– On a hot day, keep it simple with a hat, tank top and sandals.

– For a more professional vibe, pair it with a shirt or round neck t-shirt, a pair of heels, throw on a cute blazer and you’re good to go.

I can go on and on but I hope these few tips help.

Get inspired by today’s look and start the weekend right looking good and feeling great.

Hello Guys

Welcome to my first post!

We cannot always have the tight bun walking through life and attending to everyday activities; relaxation is highly essential. Letting your hair down and just taking a moment to enjoy the little pleasures of life like waves on the shore and the dance of trees in the evening, when the calm wind blows are all different ways in which we can lift stress off our shoulders and take a break from our tiresome and routine filled lives.

This Ankara style designed by me, brought to life by my seamstress and captured by my amazing photographer Sena is inspired by the relaxation I experience when I take time off from different tiresome aspects of my life. Please feel free to share and comment.
